Lieutenant Commander Robert S. Swan, USN Lieutenant Commander Robert S. Swan was born in Hanover, New Hampshire in July, 1932. A graduate of New Hampiun Boy's School and Holy Cross College, he was commissioned on 1 June 1958. His first tour of duty was on the destroyer ROOKS, followed by duty as aide to the Commander , CRUISER DIVISION THREE. Lieutenant Commander Swan later served as Commanding Officer of the USS NAVAJO (ATA 211) and as Commanding Officer of the USS SALINAN (ATF 161). Upon completion of shore duty at the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Washington he served as Executive Officer of the destroyer BUCK. He assumed command of VANCE on 11 April 1966. Lieutenant Commander Swan is married to the former Carolyn Louise Nance of Long Beach, California. They have one daughter, Elizabeth Louise Swan, born in January 1966. |
