John Bulla, 91
July 30, 2011 2:00 AM SAGAMORE John A. Bulla, 91, of Sagamore, died peacefully on July 27 at Cape Heritage in Sandwich.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jennie (Consoni) Bulla. He was the father of Martha Hadzima and her husband Frank Hadzima of West Chicago, IL and Timothy Bulla and his wife Julie of Sagamore.. He was the grandfather of Jeffrey Hadzima and Lesli Kibler of Madison, WI; Meghan Walsh and her husband Seamus of Elgin,IL; Carly Bulla of Bridgewater; Allison Crum and her husband Robert of Duluth, MN; and Suzanne Bulla of Salem. He was the great grandfather of Killian and Keegan Walsh and Zoey Crum. He was the brother of the late Robert and Nicholas Bulla, and brother-in-law to Olga Consoni. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Born in Roanoke, IL on December 2, 1919, he moved to Valier, IL where his father purchased a farm. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the Coast Guard stationed on the USS Vance in the Pacific. It was while stationed in Sandwich that he met his wife. After the war, he worked for his father-in-law at Louis Market in Sagamore. In 1960, John bought Louis Market and worked there every day until May 2011. John truly loved his time at the store, especially the interesting people he met there and had many stories to share. John was an avid gardener and took great pride in his tulips and vegetables. John was the secretary of the Marconi Club in Sagamore for many years, never missing a Sunday to be included in the weekly raffle. John was also a member of VFW 5988 Aptucxet Post, Bourne. He was a joy to know and will be missed by all. John was truly one of "The Greatest Generation." The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Cape Heritage for their kindness and care. Visiting hours have been omitted.
A funeral Mass will take place at Corpus Christi Parish in East Sandwich on Monday, August 1 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery.
