VARALLO 08_1952_72.jpg USCG CUTTER VANCE W487 Bound for Pacific Ocean Station patrol duty. Taken by SO3 Pat Varallo from stern of sister ship USCGC RAMSDEN. About Aug-Sept 1952 In Panama Canal From: Dick Dubbs To: webmaster@ussvance.com Sent: Friday, March 06, 2009 11:28 AM Subject: RE: Vance???jbetters This is Dick Dubbs, I served on the Ramsden. I don't know how Dave's address got involved with this message. It was a reply to a site that I came across while "googleing" I can't find it again. There was a photo of a Coast Guard DE coming thru one of the locks of the Panama Canal submitted by Pasqual Varallo, taken from the CGC Ramsden. Pat called it the Vance, another CG DE. I was aboard the Ramsden at that time and my recallection was that the "Richey" was the only other DE traveling with us. I have searched for the site for quite a while and can't find it. After checking USCGC Vance's movement logs and George, it has been found that Vance was not in Panama untill Oct 16 - 17.
