Hello,

This is Dennis Jackson, son of Raymond Jackson who served on the Vance. With great sadness I have to let you know that dad passed away on this past Friday, May 26th. Dad had such great times when he would be able to attend the ship's reunion. I want to thank you for how well you treated him during those times. Our family is indebted to you. His funeral will be tomorrow, June 1st at Mt Olive AME Zion Church in Etowah TN at 3 pm. Arrangements are being conducted by M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home of Athens TN.

I hope to share with the group some photos soon of dad when he was honored to be grand Marshall of the Veterans Day parade in our hometown in November.

Thank you all,

Dennis Jackson

      Patti Cummings Sorry Joe.
Robert Howey Raymond Jackson was a very special person to many people. He was an extraordinary individual who served his country during and after World War II . He was kind enough to join two of our association's reunions in 2005 and 2016. We also had the pleasure of meeting his wife, son and granddaughter. He touched many lives including mine and he will be missed by many. Fair winds and following seas shipmate. May he rest in peace.
