Subject: Americo Ciani- 1940's
Hello, I am emailing as the granddaughter of Americo Ciani. Americo "Mike" Ciani served on the USS Vance around the 1940's. He lived a beautiful life of 94 years and recently passed last Friday. I was wondering if you had any interesting artifacts or photos to share as I am currently prepping his wake memorial materials. Thank you for your time, have a great day. Lisa it is with sadness I respond to your mail. His name will be added to the ship's Taps page.
I don't recall meeting Americo at any reunion. I've had the pleasure to meet many of the 1940's crew however. The only listed information I have on him is he served from 1943 to 45 as a Motor Machinist Mate 3rd Class. This is what is listed from the official muster list. Ciani, Americo J. ("Mike"), MoMM3/c, 11/1/1943-1945 USCG , COM. Crew (Plank Owner)
Dance Photo This page is a very clear photo of Vance's crew at the Hotel Astor, NY, October12, 1945. Perhaps you might find Americo somehow. With all the crew shots of that time not many have names listed.
I will keep checking photos and papers for mention of him. This is all I can do. Would you please send us a copy of his obit for the website, please. From: Lisa Wallin (lwallin AT kpsdschools.org)

Lisa, thank you. Sure am glad you found him. I'm guessing he is in the center. With two young ladies to his left and half a shipmate to the right.
