Hello Joseph,

You don't know me, however I am the daughter of Duane Baumgartner. I noticed that he were a friend of his and that he wrote you quite a few emails.

I am sorry to inform you that my father passed away on Tuesday from a bad fall while riding his scooter. At this point, the medical examiner believed he possibly suffered a cardiac event that made him almost immediately unresponsive.

Dad was about to have his 83rd birthday next month. We are all deeply saddened by this news-he will be missed.

Erika Morgan

Bruce Swanson (Chaplain Vance Association) Duane was a warrior and fought against whatever seemed to be an injustice, even to the end. He always had great stories to tell, and he loved his shipmates, as he frequently told us. Senior Chief Petty Officer Duane Bumgarner, USN, Retired, also loved his country and the United States Navy, in which he very proudly served. It was my great honor to have served alongside Duane. Attention on Deck! Another great veteran is being Piped Aboard Heaven! Rest in the peace you fought so hard for Chief! We, your crewmates of USS VANCE (DER387) love you and pray for calm waters everafter as you sail the seas of Heaven!
    Tina Prideaux Amen.
