The odds of 3 different 3 digit hull number combinations containing a 3, an 8 and a 7 turning up are 27 x 1 or (3 x 3 x 3). But the odds on the Vance being numbered the same as the Blue are 999 to 1. ___________________ Ken Church Tuesday, May 14, 2002, 07:19 AM George, Your story about 387 coincidences was interesting, but after reading it I saw another coincidence that perhaps slipped by. The destroyer that picked up survivors from the Canberra, USS Blue DD 387, was at one time commanded by a LCDR Wright. Well, the Vance, before Marcus, was commanded by LCDR Ross Wright!
