Lt. Commander Marcus A. Arnheiter, 39, a native of New York and Kezar Lake, Maine,
graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1952. His service since has included duty in the
battleship IOWA (BB61) during the Korean War shore bombardments of the North Korean coast,
participation in several NATO exercises on the high seas of the North Atlantic and Mediterranean
while attached to various destroyers, action in Beirut during the Lebanon crisis, and more
recently on the staff of the U. S. 7th Fleet Cruiser-Destroyer Force Commander in the present
operations against the Viet Cong in South Vietnam. Immediately prior to that assignment, he
was Executive Officer of the destroyer USS INGERSOLL (DD652).
Duty afloat has included responsibilities as Gunnery Officer in both destroyers FISKE and COOLBAUGH,
and Operations Officer of both the destroyer ABBOT and the guided missile frigate WORDEN, as well
as earlier billets in the Navigation, Operations, and Engineering Departments of the USS IOWA.
From 1960 to 1963, Arnheiter was attached to the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations in the Pentagon.
He holds a Master's degree in Personnel Management from the George Washington University.
He is married to the former Janice Blair Vaughan of New York and Easthampton, L.I. They have five children:
Jeffrey (8), Ashley (6), Christopher (4), and twin daughters born in August of this year. |
