I served with Jan as a Radioman on the USS VANCE. We had many good times in those years. I saw Jan in 2010 at our ships reunion. This was the first time I had seen him in over 40 years. For that short visit I am grateful. My prayers are with the family tonight. Fair winds, Jan. ~ Joseph Betters, West Harwich, Massachusetts
I also was a shipmate of Jan's on the USS VANCE. He was a very fun loving man and worked very hard everyday. It was a pleasure for him and his wife to join us at our last reunion. We all will miss him and carry many memories forward. May God bless him and keep him. ~ Robert Howey, Jacksonville, Florida
