Reasons for reading about the Vance= Vance/Naval history, To find shipmates
Comments= Vance was a sister ship in our squadron based at Pearl Harbour where we maintained surveilance on the seaward extension of the DEW line between the Aleutians & Midway. She also served prior to us in the Antarctic region with Operation Deepfreeze. Some of her crew transfered to Durant for the 1962-63 season in N.Z. & Antarctic. Her history is, to say the least, an interesting one. I appreciate the information available on this site; I have found 2 ex-shipmates here in the logbook. Any ex-Durant crew who read this are invited to contact me.
