Reasons for reading about the Vance= Served aboard, To find shipmates
Comments= I was part of the crew that recommissioned the Vance at Mare Island in 1956 and served until she was sent to Pearl Harbor in 1958. I didn't have enough time left in my hitch to go so I was transferred to the USS Koiner for the rest of my time. On station, my watches were on the helm or in the sonar shack.

I read the Arnheiter Affair and enjoyed very much about reading about the ship I helped put back into the fleet.

Many years after the Vance I worked for General Dynamics in Pomona CA. I was shocked to see pictures of the Vance used as a target for test missiles.
I really enjoyed my 2 years on the Vance.
